Default Date format?

I have Excel 2003 SP2...How do I format the date as 8 figures like this
01/09/2007...the leading 0's are always dropped and I need them to show?

Default Date format?

Right click the cell, select format cells, select the Number tab, select
Date, and then select the type that corresponds to your needs, in this case,
03/14/01
