Excel normally shows the sum of the selected cells in the lower right hand corner. It has stopped doing so. Is there an option somewhere that turns this off and on, similiar to the manual vs automatic calc option?

Right click where you normally see it and select sum from the box

That is ... assuming that the Status Bar is enabled.

Click <View, and make sure there's a check by "Status Bar".
