An attempt to redirect the auto backup filing to an external removable drive
has created a situation whereby the message "cannot access directory 'J:\excel backup' " is displayed when the auto backup function initiates. When attempting to change the default destination from the J drive back to the C drive by using tools, options the error message "Cannot access directory 'J:\excel backup'" appears and prevents all attempts to undo the the original destination change to the J drive. Any help would be appreciated. -- George NS |

Don:
Thanks for this advise. I should have referred to this option as auto recovery, not auto backup. Your advice on filing is well heeded. The warning message that is displayed when the auto recovery function begins reads as "Microsoft Office Excel cannot save auto recovery in full to J:\ excel backup. Please check the network connection or change the location on the save tab of the tools, options dialog." I am still stuck with being unable to undo the J:\ drive instruction as I am denied access to the j directory when using the save tab of the tools, options dialog. Any suggestions?
