Default Do VLOOKUPs require the applicable other files to be open?

Do VLOOKUPs require the applicable other files to be open to return a value?

Basically, I have a file that has data pulled (via VLOOKUPs and other such
formulae) from 4 other files on various drives. Do I always need to have thes
other files open for the VLOOKUPs etc to return a value?

Thanks in advance!

They can be closed ... as long as each formula contains the correct path.

This is easily accomplished with both WBs open at the time you are creating
the formula, where you make XL create the proper path for you.
