"System" Process eating CPU in Excel 2003
Hi, I have a problem in Excel 2003 whereby if we load spreadsheets that use a
specific addin to access a DLL for performing calculations - the "system" process eats roughly 50% of the available processor time. This problem happens on 2 machines out of 3 with the same documents, I do not have this problem on one of the machines. I have checked the versions of the addin and DLL are the same accross all 3 machines, there are 2 versions of the DLL - both of which produce the same result. Interestingly this has just started happening on machines where this has not been a problem for several months. I guess if your not sure, but could provide me any information at all about the system process and how it comes into play in Excel (or when calling addins/dll's etc) i would be very grateful - tried googling, maybe i need a better search engine ;) thanks in advance Ray. |

Sounds like it is a difference in memory between the machines. "System" Process eating CPU in Excel 2003
thanks for the reply!
all the machines are running at least a gig of memory, they are all p4 hp workstations (afraid i dont have the exact specs to hand). I take it you mean the available memory i.e what apps/services are running in the background? I will check this out on monday. Again, thanks for the response. Ray.
