If I understand your question you are wanting to create a new list of names that you can use with the autofill function. Having typed your column of names, got to ToolsOptionsCustom Lists and in the white pane at the bottom, select the range of cells containg your list and click Import. Then once you enter a name from the list in a cell, dragging the Autofill handle down or across the page will complete the rest of the lsit for you. -- Regards Roger Govier "Mary L" <Mary wrote in message ... If it's a simple list of the days of the week or months, then you should be able to simply type in the day (ie: Monday) and then drag it down or across and XL will auto-populate the list recognising the format and the data. You don't need to create a custom list. However, if it is a unique list, such as names of students, etc. then I'll refer you to Roger's answer.
