Default date format changes

I made a data import (Import External Data) from an access database into Excel

All dates in access changed from year 2006 to year 2010.

How can this be avoided?

No, only the year changes. The format is in both cases YYYY-MM-DD

If the dates are off by 4 years and one day...

One way to add those four years back is to find an empty cell, put 1462 into
that cell.

Copy that cell.

Select your range that contains the dates. Edit|PasteSpecial|click Add (in the
operation box).
