Default Excel auto learning

Is it my imagination, or when entering data in colums does Excel "auto-learn"
what you are going to do next? It was nice when entering data into 3 colums
that after the final colum, I would hit enter and the cursor would
automatically go to the next row/colum that I would start entering the data
in. All the sudden, Excel does not do this anymore...did I somehow undo
something or do I have to set this function up?
