Default Calculating ages

I'm a rank amateur at Excel. I need to calculate children's ages at a given
date. I've tried the formula for calculating days between two dates but I
can't even get that to work.

Default Calculating ages

You can subtract any two dates and format that difference as General to get the
number of days between the two dates.
