is it possible to number pages with letters and numbers. such as 1.a., 1.b.,
2.a etc |

Maybe with some complex VBA but when would you change from 1a, 1b to 2a and not
1c? I would just copy over to Word and print out from there. Word has many more options when numbering pages and you could get what you want.
