Default UserForm background was dotted, now plain?

I am running Excel 97, on a Windows 98 machine...

Did I change something in the Excel program itself, or what happened?

I have been teaching myself how to design a UserForm. It's comming along.

I originally downloaded a TimeSheet file that has a userform with two
tabbed pages. The page colors are gray, and there WAS a black dotted
background that USED TO show when the userform was called.

The dotted background no longer shows in any Excel userform, except in
design mode..

The dotted background no longer displays in the original download nor
any copies.

What happened?

Also, when I view the excel file with the userform on a old Mac running
Excel 98, the userform shows only a blank userform with blank tabbed
pages. Text does show in the form on the Windows machine.

Thanks.
