Default is there a NON-volatile version of INDIRECT ??

hi,
i want to use a function like INDIRECT ( ) as a quick way to change the
reference of a cell in many formulas.... but INDIRECT is volatile and causes
re-calculations just anytime i make a change to the workbook and this is a
biiiiig file so it i can take a while. so is there a NON-volatile version of
INDIRECT ??
