Default Converting text???

Got a small problem, not sure how to fix it.

If I have this in a cell 5E+94, and it is suppose to be this 5E094, how do I
fix that? The file came from notepad and I copy and pasted it into excel and
then did text to columns. Is there something else there I should have done?

the simplest method is to enter a single quote in front. '5E094
If there arer a lot of them, YOu might write a macro to look for large
numbers and convert them to the text format you want.

Default Converting text???

bj,

In the cell it looks like this 5.00E+94, what it should be is 5E094. I
tried the single quote but that did not change anything, and when I try to
make it text or a number it stays the same..... I know there is a way to fix
this.

Format the cell as text before you put the data in there.

If you are using Excel 2002 or later when you copy and paste from
notepad, a little icon should appear with a paste symbol. If you click
on this you can select text import wizard with the options:

Step 1. Delimited. Next
Step 2. Tab delimiter. Next
Step 3. Select the column containing the entry 5E094 and choose text as
the column data format. Then click finish
