Hi Angel1,
You would have to format as text and then it would no longer be a number, and it would no longer be formula.. You can format part of a text string from the formula bar, but to actually get the effect you want in Excel would be even more complicated as you would have to merge cells vertically for the whole number and use unmerged cells for the numerator and denominator. unless you want 1/2, 1/4, 3/4 which are characters themselves.. --- HTH, David McRitchie, Microsoft MVP - Excel My Excel Pages: http://www.mvps.org/dmcritchie/excel/excel.htm Search Page: http://www.mvps.org/dmcritchie/excel/search.htm "Bob Phillips" wrote in message ... Hello, Angel1!

Unfortunately, tho it will give 3 digits, it will only work for the fractional part of the number. Thus 3.17578125 is 3 45/256 and that is how it will display, not 813/256. I believe the last is what you wanted. The arithmetic terminology talks about "proper" and "improper" fractions but I can never remember which is which! I'm not too good on numerator and denominator either :-) James Silverton Potomac, Maryland E-mail, with obvious alterations: not.jim.silverton.at.comcast.not |
