See the post from Office Helper about the why of it. You can work around some by using ALT + ENTER every 100 characters. This will extend the 1024 limit quite a bit. Depends upon how much work you are willing to do. Note also: rows with merged cells will not autofit even with wrap text set. You must manually size or use a macro.
