I have been asked if it is possible to sort by cell backgrournd colour. Can
anyone help

it's possible, but you need a macro Chip Person has it at

http://www.cpearson.com/excel/SortByColor.htm

You need a cheater column and a User-Defined-Function to do that in XL2000.
I've heard you can do it in XL2003 but don't know.
