Default 'The process cannot access the file because it is in use by anothe

I receive the following error message when I try to open a Excel document on
a network sha

'The process cannot access the file because it is in use by another process'

I am not able to copy it nor open it. Usually if someone else had it open I
would be given the option to open a 'Read Only' copy.

Ideas?
