Default shared workbooks in excel

Previous versions of Excel used to use an Alert to notify you that another
user was already using the shared workbook - can this option be switched on
in 2003. A group of users do not want to work in the document at the same
time.

Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks in advance, Debbie
