Default How to display result of calculations in engineering notation?

I need to perform (electrical engineering) calculations dispaying the result
in engineering notation rather than scientific notatation, eg, powers of 3,
6, 9 and 12 corresponding to milli, kilo, mega and micro, rather than the
Scientific notation offered within Excel. Is there an easy method of setting
this up? I'm relative new to spreadsheets and have not used macros etc.
Or should I go away and learn to use visual basic instead?
Currently using Excel 2003.

Hi Peter,

Here is an excel website that specializes in engineering.
http://www.spreadsheetworld.com/
I'm sure you'll find it useful.

Cheers,
