Default excel and power point error on log on, word opening slowly

I'm using windows xp sp2 home edition, office 2003 professional. They are
each updated regualirly. I use AVG as virus protection and Window Defender
and Spybot as spy ware mal ware protection.

An error started popping up during a log on of any user from the welcome
screen. It started as excel and then power point too. I choose to send the
error report and close the program. I can then use the computer including
those programs with no problem. (They do ask if I want to start in safe mode
as the last time the start failed, I choose no and continue working.)

There are no references to any office program in any start menu, etc other
than open office document, new office document in all users\start menu.

This started sometime last week. Today, word has started opening too slowly
whether trying to open a word document or opening the program from start/all
programs.

I already tried the detect/repair utility on Saturday and it said it
completed the task, but I'm still getting the problems.

I tried disabling the .do* in AVG to see if it would make a difference and it
did not.

The only other change that may have caused the problem is that I got a new
printer. I replaced the old one with another. The new one would not print
envelopes well so we got another new one. That meant uninstall and install
of printer drivers.

If anyone has any ideas on this, I would really appreciate your help. I need
Office to work correctly for the chariy we run. Thank you.

You need to put this post in the XP newsgroup. Also, you should be able to
get some kind of info on the error reports if you click the follow up button
when the dialog box pops up to send the report.
