Default vlookup with indirect

Hello again everyone

I have date in a sheet which I would like to refer to.

in A24 I have Setup!D5 which returns John Proud
in J24 I have =VLOOKUP(INDIRECT(A24),DB_list,2,FALSE)
which checks John Proud against a small array of names and a number in
cols a and b.
the result is #REF!

please can you explain this ??

Thanks

John Proud

I'm not sure I understand the need for the "Indirect" function here. Try it

SORTED

Setup was bringing an extra space between names.

Thanks
