Default Copy and paste has got complicated. Help please

In 2000 I used to copy formulae with repeated use of paste or with Fill Down.
Now in 2003 I get a range of options which I cant make sense of, the best I
can get is copy into one cell.
What am I doing wrong?
or
Can I disable this refinement

You can turn off those options:

Choose ToolsOptions
On the Edit tab, remove the check marks from 'Show Paste Options
buttons' and 'Show Insert Options buttons'
Click OK
