Default excel duplicates problem

I'm trying to eliminate duplicates from an imported list and the advanced
step has me stuck. When I get to the advanced filter, there are some word
figures in the "list range". something like "$A$$660:$0$$" I click "ok" and
it comes up with an error. What am I doing wrong?

thanks

Just delete them all and reselect the correct ranges using the range select
buttons in the dialog box.

Thanks everyone....but i must be doing something else wrong. When I select
the rows (which is all of them) and click"ok" nothing happens. The numbers
of the rows turn blue, but there are still some duplicate addresses (which
are in column A). Did I miss something?

thanks

Highlight the data in this box and then select the data in the range you are
trying to filter

Ahhhh - One you are filtering in place - is that what you meant to do? All
that does is hide the duplicates - You can filter to another range and it
will a list of unique values only.

What you are seeing as duplicates I would be 99% sure aren't. We see this
type of question a fair bit and it usually comes down to leading/trailing
spaces etc in some of the values that make them different in actuality but
visually look the same. Pick any two entries you think look the same and
then assuming they were in A3 and A4, in any other cell try =A3=A4 and see
if it is TRUE or FALSE. If FALSE then examine each record carefully.
