Default charts plotted with data on two axes

Hi, I am trying to create a chart that shows ratios of prices of an item by
category (the ratio is the price divided by the value of the category which
is income) - I can do that and the categories are evenly spaced. What I
would like to do is display the categories by their value rather than evenly
spaced to show the distance between the individuals in terms of income
(plotted on the x axis)as well as the value of the ratio (plotted on the y
axis). I have not been able to find a way to do this yet in excel. In
advance, appreciate your suggestions. Best,

anaoro,

Use the x-y (scatter) chart type. Both axes are value axes, rather than the
x axis being a category (evenly spaced) axis.

With this chart type, you don't get labels on the axis for your points
(since it's no longer a category axis). Instead you just get a scale. To
label the points, use Rob Bovey's XY labeler at www.appspro.com. It works
very well (with other chart types too).

To have full control over the cells from which the chart is made, with the
chart selected use Chart - Source Data, Series tab. Also be sure to
right-click either axis (right-clicking on an axis label is the best way),
and look at the stuff in Format axis. Also, with the chart selected, look
at Tools - Options - Chart. No one knows why that stuff isn't in the Chart
menu where it would seem to belong. No one.

You might want to use the microsoft.public.excel.charting newsgroup for
chart questions. Jon Peltier still lurks around there, and is the
chartmiester-non-pareil (chartdude-fer-shure) there.
