Default Excel vs. Long-hand accounting

What are the advantages to using Excel and is it easier and less time
consuming then doing it all by long-hand?

Don, you asked if this was homework; the answer is yes and no. The yes answer
is because I did have an assignment to do relating to doing financials with
QuickBooks and Excel which if I may add I have completed. The no answer is
because I am still one of those old fools that have yet to master anything
beyond doing sums such as a checkbook and a budget by hand.
