Default Finding asterisks

In my spreadsheet, I've asterisked certain cells.

When I do EDIT/FIND then enter an asterisk in the FIND WHAT box and
press "FIND NEXT", Excel finds EVERY character (not just the
asterisks).

How do I find the asterisks?

Use ~* (tilde asterisk)

You'd need that same tilde for finding a question mark or the tilde itself.

~?
and
