Either you have the "formula view" enabled:
<Tools. <Options <View tab With "Formulas" *CHECKED* under 'Windows Options'. OR The cell that you used to enter your formula into was formatted as "text" before you entered the formula. Just changing the format to 'General' or 'Number' will not work. You must re-enter (register) the formula again. Change the format to number or general, then click in the formula bar and hit <Enter. A shortcut for this revision is to select the cell, then: <Ctrl <Shift < ~ , Then <F2, Then <Enter. -- HTH, RD --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please keep all correspondence within the NewsGroup, so all may benefit ! --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Try this: "Curtis" wrote in message ... when I try to link cells on different sheets from the same workbook it doesnt seem to work properly. Sounds like the new cells are formatted as Text.
Re-format to General then F2ENTER on your formula cell(s) Gord Dibben MS Excel MVP On Wed, 23 Aug 2006 13:14:02 -0700, Curtis wrote: when I try to link cells on different sheets from the same workbook it doesnt seem to work properly.
