Default Using Excel sharing function in SharePoint

Is it possible to use the sharing function of an Excel workbook with the
document being on a SharePoint Site?

We are using Office professionnal 2003 and are using the SharePoint sites
generated by MS Project server. Some users were using the sharing function
while the document was on a windows network and they are experiencing problem
trying to use it now that the document is on a SharePoint site.

Thanks.
