Default Formulae query

I use a very basic spreadsheet to record results at a show. The columns have
entrants names and the rows are the numbered events. Each event has 1st, 2nd
and 3rd places awarded and points for each place.

The number of entrants is 40 and the events 84 and at the end each entrant
has a points total. However each place in each event also has a different
monetary value. Is their any way that the place positions can be linked to
another sheet in the workbook so that I end up with each entrant having a
monetary value total as well as a points total?
