Default delimited lists in excel

i'm trying to use multiple cells in a drop list. however, i get a message
that it has to be a delimited list. i've searched thru all of the help files
but cannot find a reference to delimited lists. Any help?

Default delimited lists in excel

For example, column 'a' would be an individuals name. Column 'B' would be
that individuals SS number. I'm trying to set this up so that they will
come up together but in separate cells.
