Default Can barcodes be created using Excel or another Microsoft product?

We are installing a system that will use barcodes to scan in and out of
specified activities. These scans will ultimately track the employees daily
work activity. I am currently running Microsoft Office 2003, thus Excel 2003.

You didn't say what kind of bar code, so I will assume it's a linear bar code
(e.g., 3 of 9, UPC-128, etc.) Bar codes are a font and called by the print
output, e.g., MS-Word can generate PostNet codes for mailing when they
recognize the Zip Code string. However, you'll need a third-party software
for most everything else.

Check with the company whose software you are using to track the employees.
They should have a bar code generator if they are dependent on it. Watch
printer compatibility, i.e., PCL vs. PS.
