Default possibility of pasting numbers with negative sign placed after

I wish to have the capability of pasting a set of numbers from another source
where the sign is located after the number (for e.g. 10- or 10.55- )

Your comment has an answer. You can use a Custom format for the cells.

Highlight the cells you want to paste to, select Format/Cells. On the
Number tab click Custom. In the Type box, enter

#,##0.00;#,##0.00-

Then paste you data into your newly formatted cells.
