Default cell margins in Excel 2003

I have a column of numbers, and some of the numbers have superscript letters
following them - sometimes one superscript and sometimes two. In order to get
the right hand edge of the numbers to line up, I created a separate column
for the superscripts. I left-justified the superscripts and right-justified
the numbers, but when I print them out, they are not close enough together.

Is there any way to reduce the cell margins so the superscripts are closer
to the numbers, or is there a way to line up the right-hand edge of the
numbers and keep the superscripts in the same column?
