Default Error caused by *.xls file

I don't know what happened to caused the following problem. However, I went
to open a spreadsheet (after viewing it earlier) and got the following
message:

The document _______.xls caused a serious error the last time it was opened.
Would you like to continue opening it?

The underline represents the name of a specific file. When trying to open
other spreadsheets, EXCEL would just sit there. It would not lock up and
when I pressed CNTL-ALT-DEL, it indicated that EXCEL was "running" vs "Not
Responding".

I have run the FIX-REPAIR option on the Office Installation Disk and even
uninstalled and reinstalled Office only to have the same problem. I also
attempted to open the same spreadsheets on my memory stick and had the same
problem. The error message popped up for that specific file and nothing
happened when attempting to open the other spreadsheet.

I took the memory stick to work and open the spreadsheets without a problem.

Any ideas??

Thanks,
