Default Importing text file

Ive trying to import a fixed length text file (2408 rows) in to excel. In
two of the columns have mostly digits, but about 20% are text. The import
wizard will not allow me to change the two fields to text. Its grayed out.
Is there away around this?

if I am just trying to get round the problem I edit the text file
putting in a new first row of text. Import the file and delete the
first row.

Do you need to do it regularly?

regards

I've never seen the File|open Text import wizard behave that way.

Can you describe what you're doing in more detail?

Reinstalling Office appears to have fixed the problem.

Glad you got it fixed--but it still sounds very strange to me.
