Default Displaying Chart Data ontop of Image

Hi Folks,

I have a problem that I can't seem to overcome. I need to create an excel
chart but have the data points display on top of an image. The axis of the
chart need to be linked to the edges of the image so that when the data
changes....the data points move appropriately in accordance with the
underlying image. The image has an envelope on it and the data points have to
move within this envelope. I have created the envelope on a chart and all
works well, but now my masters want me to do it on the original envelope
diagram.

Can anyone assist me in attempting this.....

If I understand you correctly you want the envelope to be your underlay /
plot area -
I just did this myself €“ but I am sure someone else has a better way to do
it €“

First I created my chart with my source data etc.
Then after the chart was created I cleared all the formatting x axis, y axis
etc. (except I left the data labels)

Next
(make sure you have your image/picture saved in your computer where you can
easily find €“ access it)
Then to get your envelope to be the underneath right click on your plot area
of the chart-
Click FORMAT PLOT AREA
Select FILL EFFECTS€¦
Click the PICTURE TAB
Click SELECT PICTURE
Then you can browse to find your picture/image and select it.
(I had trouble when it imported my map the size/scaling was off but I dont
think an envelope should be too big of a problem.)

Then you can click and move your data labels where ever you need them

Hope that helps (probably clear as mud)
Someone else could probably do a better job explaining or has a
simpler/prettier way €“ but this works and if you are like me there is a
reason you are working on this over the weekend.
Now I just hope some guru comes on and can assist me with my post.

Best of luck
