Default Interpreting Values

I work in a microbiology lab. We test if bugs are Susceptible, Intermediate
or Resistant to a particular antibiotic. In order to make this determination
we look at where a numeric value (we call this an MIC) falls in a set of pre
determined interpretive criteria. I have on a simple chart the number of
samples that obtained a particular MIC, it allows us to see the spread and if
the number heading towards a value that would make them resistant is
emerging. But my question is, can I on the chart show where the column of
samples with a different interpretation to those that have gone before
begins, perhaps a colour change - or a line in the graph area. I know I can
go in and individually change column colours but then can I show on a legend
what each colour means?? Or is there a way to input the interptive criteria??
Hope this makes sense!

Default Interpreting Values

I had used the Addline before and while it was a step in the right direction
it didn't fully allow me to interpet the figures based on the pre defined
criteria. Maybe it is just something I can't do in Excel. I had seen a chart
before where it was done but I think it had been done in a stas package and
maybe that is what I need.
Thanks!

A good website for charts is from Jon Peltier. For your case, you might find

This page talk about chart formats. See if the waterfall chart is what you
are looking for. If you are looking for a line, you can see another site of
