if you want to hide all of the data labels double click on the axis select
patterns and select none for Tick mark lables.
You can also select the tick mark labels to show high or low to get them out
of the graph area.

If you just don't want a number on top of the y axis. set your scale
parameters such that one of the displayed numbers is not at 0

If none of these are what you want there are other more coomplicated ways to
do format Apparent axis data (Not all of them are really axis data)

When an x-y chart is formatted so that the x-axis intersect the y-axis in the
middle, the first number on the x-axis appears on top of the y-axis. Is it
possible to remove this first number label?
