Default overlaying xy plots on same axis

I want to be able to show the magnitude and orientation of two vectors
as a function of an independent variable (time). I can generate an
appropriate image for any one vector using an xy plot. I have been able
to create the effect that I want by generating two graphs with
transparent plot areas, but I am having great difficulty keeping the two
independent plots precisely aligned. (If I copy and paste one over the
other, they're initially aligned, but it is not clear how to select one
and not the other to change the source data range.)

Is there a way in Excel97 to have the program automatically place two
independent xy plots on the same set of axes?

If one stacks two independent graphs, what determines the placement of
the plots regards to foreground - background? If you have two graphs on
a sheet, what determines which graph is in front of the other?

Thanks in advance... Windsurfer in LA

If you highlight more than 2 columns when creating the chart, the first
column will be interpreted as the x-values and all subsequent columns
will become separate data series on the same axes. Alternately,
Chart|Add Data will allow you to add extra data series.

Thanks for tip. It quickly yielded what I needed. In hindsight,
approach should of been obvious to me.
