I'm a new user to Excel 2007 but have used earlier versions with no
problems. I am having difficulty with just producing a simple chart with two rows in the worksheets labelled 'year' and 'volume'. When I chart this the x axis comes out as 1.2.3 etc and not the actual year. How do I avoid this |

Hi,
I assume you chart is using both columns to create 2 series. Try removing the 'Year' label from top left corner of data range. This will allow Excel to better guess you data arrangement. Failing that create the chart and use Chart Tools Design Data Select Data, dialog to define exactly where a series Name, Data and Labels are coming from.
