Default Vertical highlighting in line graphs????

How can I do a graph in excel 2007 that has a horizontal line graph
displaying over a time scale on the x-axis with vertical zones highlighting
certain periods? This would allow me accentuate a specific event that
transpired over a time interval and differentiation from other specific
periods.
