I have created my own chart template In Excel 2007 and it saves without
error. When I try to apply it, I get an error message stating Windows doens't know what program to open it with. When I associate the file to Excel, it still doesn't work. Any assistance with this problem is most appreciated. Thanks in advance. |

Hi,
Are you trying to open the .crtx file directly in excel? Not sure that is how it is suppose to work. I think need to apply the template to an existing chart or use the template when creating a chart. Hi, Andy. thanks for the response. First, I need to let you know that I am
using Windows Vista. When I try to apply the template, Windows returns Windows cannot open this file. File: [filename].crtx To open this file , Windows needs to know what progam you want to use to open it..." and give the options of Use the Web to find the correct program or select a program from installed programs. Even if I assosciate the .crtx file with Excel, I still can't apply the template to the selected chart. Any thoughts? "Andy Pope" wrote: Hi, Are you trying to open the .crtx file directly in excel? So to be clear. You are applying the template to an existing chart by
selecting the chart and then on the Chart tools Design Type Chart Chart Type Templates. Selecting the required template (.crtx) and then it says "Can not open file"? You are not using Manage Templates and then double clicking the file are you? Cheers Andy -- Andy Pope, Microsoft MVP - Excel http://www.andypope.info "neeses" wrote in message ... Andy,
You solved it! I was indeed using the "Manage Templates." Thanks for the follow-up. "Andy Pope" wrote: So to be clear.
