Default Error bars for a single data point not whole series

how do i add error bars to a single data point and not the whole data series?
I need to display error bars showing the standard error but for each data
point individually. Is there a way to do this?

Hi Helen,
Copy this data to a worksheet (the top cell is A1)
y +y -y
1 6 0.3 0.6
5 7 0.2 0.7
10 8 0.3 0.4
12 9 0.1 0.3

Make a chart (Line or XY) with the x and y data - first two columns
On chart, double click the data series to format it; open the Y-axis tab
Select Custom and fill in the box; for +Y enter C2:C5, for -Y enter D2:D5
This also works for x-errors
best wishes
