Hi,

A lot more detail would help. What type of chart? What do you mean by "no"
symbol? #? Where are you seeing the "no" - in the chart title, on an axis,
in the plot area, for all data points, for only some data points, in the
spreadsheet. What does your data, in the spreadsheet, look like?
What version of Excel are you using?

If this helps, please click the Yes button.

Cheers,
Shane Devenshire

In addition to Shane's questions: What is it you're trying to do? Are you
completely unable to edit these charts, or just unable to do certain things?
Are they pivot charts? Are they on protected worksheets or in shared
workbooks?

Default I keep getting a "no" symbol when trying to edit certain graph

After a Google search, I came across this thread. I am experiencing the exact
same problem with a "no" symbol--the symbol is a black circle with a single
line crossed through it at an angle. It occurs whenever the cursor is above a
graph in Excel 2007--I am unable to left or right click on the graph, or
highlight it in any way. I know this is not a problem with my computer, as I
tried opening it again on a different computer and have the same problem. Is
there any way to fix this so that I don't have to trash the project and start
over again, or at least to prevent this from happening in the future?

Thanks.

Is this occurring in only one workbook? Is that workbook shared? Are the
worksheets grouped?

I think I may heave fixed the problem--they may have been accidentally shared
or protected in some way. Is it possible to protect a group of workbooks
without a password? In any case, I can now edit the graphs. Thanks!

If you group worksheets, that is, select more than one at a time, you can't
do anything with charts on those sheets.
