On the "READY" bar, what does NUM mean?

It means that you've pressed the Num Lock key on the keyboard, to turn
it on. There's usually a light on the keyboard too, to indicate that the setting is on. When the Num Lock is on, you can type on the number keypad, and the numbers are activated. If Num Lock is off, the number keys may act as navigation keys, such as arrow right.
