Thumbs up or down
Hi,
I've been asked whether it's possible to have pictures of "Thumbs up" or "Thumbs down" on a chart to indicate god or bad news; I'm sure that I've seen it somewhere, but can't remember... hence teh question Regards Colin Foster |

At the risk of propagating a gimmick, I'll tell you how to do this. Find the
images you want to use. You can use an image for a custom data point marker or fill, This is done by copying the image from the worksheet, selecting the data point or series, and pasting. Here's an article with a few more details: http://peltiertech.com/Excel/ChartsH...omMarkers.html "Colin Foster" wrote in message ... Hi Jon,
Thanks for this - yes, I agree, it is "gimmicky", but unfortunately, if it's what's wanted (despite my comments of "why??"), then unfortunately, we have to find a way :-( Also, do you know a quick way of doing a similar thing in a table? So that, for example you've your excel data & a column next to it with a (& I realise these aren't going to quite work, but...) range from :-) to :-| to :-( depending on the results - presumably if statements with ASCII characters in them or WingDings? Finally, I've just had a quick hunt through your website - some very interesting stuff there, so I've bookmarked & will be having a more detailed look. Thanks very much for the link - it's appreciated. Regards Colin "Jon Peltier" wrote: At the risk of propagating a gimmick, I'll tell you how to do this. Find the images you want to use. There are some WingDing characters, perhaps j through l that show smiley
characters. You could use an IF statement that shows j if something is above a value, l if it's below another value, and k if it's between. On my site there's a font/character browser that will help you see which character is which: http://peltiertech.com/Excel/tricks.html#ascii - Jon ------- Jon Peltier, Microsoft Excel MVP Tutorials and Custom Solutions Peltier Technical Services, Inc. - http://PeltierTech.com _______ "Colin Foster" wrote in message ...
