I am looking at trying to create a dual column chart which contains 8 sets of
data, four of which are for plan data and four are for the actual data. Is
it possible to create two combined columns, one for each set of data on the
one graph. I cannot find any information to achieve this. Can anyone help.

One approach would be to plot two series, one for plan, the other for
actual. Data:

Plan Actual
A [data] [data]
B [data] [data]
C [data] [data]
D [data] [data]

Select the range, create a clustered column chart. Each cluster will have
two columns, plan and actual, and each of the labels in the first column (I
used A, B, C, D) will be centered under one of these pairs.

Currently there is 13 months of data for each one which will eventually
become 18 lines and if possible would be good to cluster the plan numbers for
each year and also the actual data.

Do you know if this is possible.

This is a lot of data points, eight per date or 36 per Mat (18 months plan
and 18 months actual). It may make sense to simplify or separate the data.
and to think about what you want the reader to come away with. Do you need
to compare among Mat A through Mat B, or is it more important to keep the
timelines for each Mat together? Also, if the category axis consists of
dates, it's common practice to use a line chart instead of a column chart.
