Default Color "on top" determined how?

For a chart with several points and lines expressed in different colors,
some often overlapping another, what determines what color is "on top" of
the other.

I have a situation where a data point market is obscured by the error bar of
something else.

Will re-ordering the data series change this? How?

My thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Cheers! Brad
