I am working on a bar chart that lists the # of schools on the x axis and
total sales on the y axis. Since there are numerous schools, I noticed the colors of the bars are repeating themselves. I would like to make is so the first group is solid, the second one pattern and the third another. I hope I didn't confuse you too much...... thanks |

Why is every bar a different color? Could you not simply have the bars all be the same color? -- Del Cotter NB Personal replies to this post will send email to , which goes to a spam folder-- please send your email to del3 instead. |

Each column represents a different school.

I think I understand the effect you're after, but I have my doubts that the readers of the chart will be able to keep more than a very small number of colors straight. It may be better to just use words. -- Del Cotter NB Personal replies to this post will send email to , which goes to a spam folder-- please send your email to del3 instead. |

Tools / Options / Color
In a default palette, all eight colours in the bottom row are duplicates of some in the top five rows, as are two in the 2nd bottom row. Click Modify to customize any duplicates you want to change. In a default chart with default palette, the first duplicate will not appear until the 18th series, the next at the 38th, so you must be dealing with quite a few schools.
