Default Can you make chart bars from top to bottom?

Can you put bars in that start at the top and go down? Or, can you make bars
that start at a certain point in the middle of you chart and end at a point
higher?

Thumbs up Answer: Can you make chart bars from top to bottom?

Yes, you can make chart bars that start from the top and go down or start at a certain point in the middle of your chart and end at a point higher. Here's how you can do it:
  1. First, select the data range that you want to use for your chart.
  2. Next, click on the "Insert" tab in the Excel ribbon and select the type of chart that you want to create. For example, you can choose a column chart or a stacked column chart.
  3. Once you have selected your chart type, right-click on one of the bars in the chart and select "Format Data Series" from the context menu.
  4. In the "Format Data Series" pane that appears on the right-hand side of the screen, look for the "Series Options" section.
  5. Under "Series Options", you will see a drop-down menu labeled "Series Overlap". Set this value to 100%.
  6. Next, look for the "Gap Width" option and set it to 0%.
  7. Finally, click on the "Close" button to apply your changes.

Your chart bars should now start from the top and go down or start at a certain point in the middle of your chart and end at a point higher. You can also experiment with different chart types and formatting options to achieve the desired effect.

Hi,

Double click the Y axis and on the Scale tab of the format dialog check
Values in reverse order. This will place the 0 values at the top of the
chart and positive values will cause the column to hang down.

To start in the middle you could use a stacked column with an additional
data series. This extra series can be formatted with no border or fill to
give the impression of floating columns.

Cheers
Andy
